Eclectic Bernese is the work by Umberto Cavenago created for the exhibition project 'DIALOGOS PART FIVE', held at the 'gepard14' space in Liebefeld, Bern, in September 2021. Together with Cavenago, several artists participated, including Roberto de Luca, Marco Giacomoni, Olivia Notaro, Ermanno Cristini, Giancarlo Norese, Luca Scarabelli, Oppy De Bernardo, Ernesto Nicola Nicolai, Gabriele Di Matteo and Alessandro Rolandi.

Dialogos is an exhibition platform that explores the boundary between performance and installation, with an approach that shifts the focus from the physical place to the time in which it occurs. Space, in this case, is conceived as a "when" rather than a "where" - a fluid context, modulated by the interaction between the artists and the audience. Cavenago's work, like all those in the event, transformed the space into a kind of negotiation field, a place that changes the moment a relationship arises.

For this occasion, Cavenago chose to realise Eclettico Bernese by assembling materials found in his studio, in a composition born spontaneously to dialogue with the environment and the other installation interventions. The choice to work with elements already present in his work space reflects the philosophy of the project: the transformation of space through a relational practice, where the act of creation is in itself a dialogue, a way of exploring and modulating time and space.
