The exhibition space of Kunsthalle West houses a square-section pillar at its centre, a vertical structural element intended to support the loads of the architectural structure, transferring the weight from the top to the foundation and thus ensuring its stability.

With the installation 'Supporting Art', Cavenago has equipped this pillar with four sturdy black steel wheels, as if to infuse movement into an architectural element that is by nature static and immovable. The result is surprising, as it evokes the movement of a certainty, not only physical and architectural, but also mental. A pillar, in fact, is not destined to move, but in this case Cavenago subverts this expectation, inviting us to reflect on the possibility of transforming the immutable. Perhaps like Art itself, which by its very nature knows no certainties and continually challenges our perceptions?
